@alfredapp is a serious contender to Apple’s OSX spotlight

Alfred is system integrated application that is designed for those who access, navigate and input OSX with the keyboard.

It provides customizable shortcuts and hot keys to rival Apple’s own Spotlight, adding further depth with the ability to navigate within folder structures within the app itself.

In addition it provides easy access to Safari search, a calculator, iTunes control amongst many other features.

The Powerpack is an in app purchase and provides further customizable functions to extend your productivity.

Alfred application is a great alternative to Apple’s built in spotlight.

I use Alfred alongside Spotlight to enchance my keyboard productivity. By simply adjusting the hotkey combination to launch the application, it is quite easy to toggle between the two to use the simplicity of Spotlight with the depth and functionality of Alfred.
